| EMA Consulting Engineers - Capabilities |
Design and Detail DraftingSector Manager: Scott Haydon Our strong drafting capability has been a cornerstone to our success and growth. With a wealth of experience in structural and mechanical drafting, we have built a solid reputation based on our ability to deliver projects on time and on budget. Our drafting staff are skilled in the leading 3D and modelling technologies we utilise. Our programs of choice are at the forefront of the industry and include Tekla, Prosteel, AutoCAD, CADworx, Inventor and Navisworks. Our drafting team develop 3D models, walk through representations and fly through models. Coupled with our engineering capacity, our in house drafting saves time and money on projects of any size. Delays in clarifications and RFI’s become a thing of the past as the design engineer and the draftsperson are in the same office. In recent years, we have successfully completed detail drafting for some of Australia’s largest construction projects.
Built EnvironmentSector Manager: Michael O’Sullivan Our structural engineering team are highly respected by clients and peers alike. We have a wide scope of design, verification and project management experience in various commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects. We are experienced in engineering construction methods including: steel frame, concrete, tilt wall and block. Increasingly, we find our structural design and verification skills are being sought for the design and construct projects. The EMA difference is evidenced in our approach to remedial or structural repair work. Our engineers will personally inspect all such work and certify as acceptable where appropriate.. Our engineering is fully compliant with all relevant Australian and Council codes. EMA is proud to be a member of the RTA Pre-qualified Technical Panel for Bridges and Structures.
Process and EnvironmentSector Manager: Julian Ellis Our Process and Environmental capabilities allow us to provide our clients with solutions to highly specialised problems. Our engineered solutions have provided our clients with quantifiable outcomes, which either meet or exceed their requirements, often adding a positive impact to community attitude towards our client’s social and environmental responsibilities. Our acoustic assessment and noise modelling capabilities ensure that our client’s developments or processes meet or exceed their environmental compliance criteria. We have undertaken studies for major commercial and industrial developments, individual businesses and major infrastructure projects. Our Process and Environment undertakings involve both greenfield design or improvement to existing dust and fume collection systems. This has included hot off-gas collection, elimination of harmful particulates from emissions streams, collected product recycling, and 100% fugitive emissions capture and clean plant design requirements. Our pneumatic process design capability involves fit-for-purpose designs of positive and negative pressure lean and dense phase conveying. We have developed specialised scaled test rigs for bench testing pneumatic conveying of difficult materials.
Asset ManagementSector Manager: John Loiterton At EMA, we work closely with our clients to develop and maintain an inspection schedule for a wide range of structures. These include:
We also undertake asset inspections of culverts, bridges, tunnels and similar constructions of infrastructure. In fact, we are proud to be on the NSW RTA Prequalified Panel for Remediation of Bridges and Associated Structures. Increasingly, we find our structural verification skills are being sought for the certification of Safe Working Loads. This work includes design and design verification of lifting beams, spreader bars and other similar lifting interface devices. Racking and storage SWL (Safe Working Load) approvals are engineered using cutting edge verification programs and modelling techniques. Working within the guidelines of local and national authorities, we produce an audit report specific to all inspections we undertake. Your audit report will include not just our findings, but will also include our recommendations and our recommended timeline for completion. The EMA difference is that if you wish to act upon our recommendations, we will engineer and project manage the installation and upgrade of your site.
Mining and ResourcesSector Manager: Jullian Ellis With a wealth of experience, our Mining and Resources staff are well versed in all aspects of project management, heavy engineering and shutdown disciplines. We believe our experience in the mining, smelting and associated industry is second to none. Our staff have several decades of experience in surface mining and metals processing such as smelting of lead, zinc, aluminium and (of course) steel production. Our engineering staff have specific experience with:
EMA provides our clients with not only the engineered solution, but also the “hands-on” experience to provide the project management of installation and commissioning as well. We have specific experience in shutdown management. During such times working to a defined deadline demands a versatile and determined approach. Our Mining and Industry team provides such surety in an environment where safety and teamwork are paramount. This is particularly relevant to remediation and rehabilitation of assets, where ageing plant or infrastructure needs replacement or upgrade. Our experience in heavy industry and mining means we can often offer alternatives in materials handling or product transfer solutions, providing our clients with a cost effective methodology which is reliable and easy to maintain.
